Spring Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

Here's my card for the Spring/Summer Coffee Lovers Blog Hop. I was inspired by the idea of spring showers, which clear to make way for a brighter world.

I die cut a to go coffee cup using cardstock scraps and dies from Lil' Inker Designs. The cup was assembled on a light blue panel with raindrops die cut into it. I used another die to cut a sun from yellow cardstock. The sun was tucked underneath the top of the right side of the to go cup, above the raindrops. I used foam tape to add a pair of die cut silver stitched clouds to the panel, covering the bottom of the sun die cut. The "a brew will help you through" sentiment from Right at Home's How Have You Bean? set was stamped on a cheery yellow cardstock strip that matches the color of the sun. After wrapping the panel with some yellow baker's twine and securing it with a small bow, I adhered the strip to the panel beneath the cluster of images. The finished panel was adhered to a turquoise card base.

How Have You Bean?

Here's my card for the current challenge at The Paper Players. I represented the layout's trio of panels with a trio of to go cups created with the Cup of Joy stamps and dies from Right at Home.

I stamped the to go cups on white cardstock and added a little shading to the images with cool gray Copic markers before cutting them out with the matching dies.  The sleeves were stamped on kraft cardstock scraps and cut out, then placed on the to go cups.  I used foam tape to position the cups on a piece of fun chevron patterned paper adhered to a brown card base.  I didn't measure before I started to stamp and cut the cups, so once I started assembling, I realized I'd need to flip one upside-down to get them all to fit...

For the sentiment, I used a fishtail flag die to cut a strip from cheery yellow paper to match the single yellow stripe on the patterned paper panel.  The "how have you bean?" sentiment from the coordinating How Have You Bean? stamp set was stamped on the strip in black ink. I used more foam tape to place the sentiment over the center and right to go cup, making sure to leave the yellow chevron stripe on the patterned paper visible so that the color choice made sense with my design.

Wake Up Drink Coffee Kick Butt

Here's my card for the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  Its coffee theme seems especially appropriate for a Monday morning!

My focal image is the to go cup from Right at Home's Cup of Joy stamp set.  The images were stamped on scrap cardstock, then cut out with the coordinating dies.  After adding some shading to the images with Copic markers, I assembled the pieces and positioned the to go cup on a strip of earth tone chevron patterned paper at the top of a yellow cardstock panel.  To set the patterned panel off from the background, I edged it with dark brown cardstock.  A strip of rust cardstock was tucked above the top edge of the patterned panel and a small strip of scalloped cardstock was positioned beneath it.  I stamped the set's encouraging sentiment at the bottom of the yellow panel in brown ink, then adhered the panel to a coordinating kraft card base.

Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I'm joining the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop with this sweet design based on the current Mojo Monday sketch.


This adorable image from Right at Home's new Cuppa Friendship set was perfect for my card for the hop!  I colored the image up with Copic markers, then cut it out with my Scan 'n Cut machine.  To add a bit of texture, I adhered some flock to the cuffs of the mittens before using foam tape to place the image on the white background panel.  I stamped the "hey girl" sentiment on a smaller white circle, then matted both panels on slightly larger berry cardstock circles.  The circles were arranged on a piece of pink patterned paper with glitter accents over strips of coordinating pink cardstock.  The finished panel was adhered to a berry card base to match the mats beneath the image and sentiment panels.

Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I'm joining in on the current Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop with this autumn inspired design featuring stamps and dies from Right at Home.  I colored up the to go cup and pumpkin images a few days ago for this month's Daily Marker 30 Day Coloring Challenge.  After die cutting (or hand cutting) the colored images, I assembled them on a pale pink panel over a strip of earthy toned plaid patterned paper.  The top of the patterned paper strip is set off from the rest of the panel by a super shiny narrow strip of gold tape.  For a fun detail, I added a bit of brown flourish extending from the top of the cup to look like steam.  I stamped the "hello pumpkin spice" sentiment from the How Have You Bean? stamp set to the left of the cup in brown pigment ink. The finished panel was adhered to a coordinating coral card base.

A Brew Will See You Through

It's Friday--finally--so a coffee themed card seemed appropriate.  This one was inspired by the current challenge at Inspired by All the Little Things.

I started off with a woodgrain background panel to mimic the look of the mug rack in the inspiration photo.  I added a single mug, stamped with an image from Right At Home's Cup of Joy stamp set.  The mug was stamped on cream and shaded just a bit with Copic markers to bring in the neutral shades of the mugs in the photo. 

For the sentiment, I stamped "a brew will see you through" from the coordinating How Have You Bean? sentiment set in brown pigment ink on a kraft cardstock strip.  I added it to the panel, tucking one end underneath the mug image.  To complete the design, I added a section of a taupe pearl flourish to the top of the mug as a plume of steam.

How Have You Bean?

Here's my card for the current sketch at Freshly Made Sketches.  I used the new coffee themed stamps and dies from Right at Home for my simple thinking of you card.

I stamped the "how have you bean?" sentiment from the set with the same name on a piece of textured blue cardstock (that's why the stamping isn't so great on the word "bean"--it's not due to either the stamp quality or user error!).  To go with the sentiment, I stamped up a to go cup using the coordinating Cup of Joy stamps and dies. I shaded the cup a bit with warm gray markers to give the white a little depth before using foam tape to adhere the cup to the sentiment panel.  After edging the panel with kraft cardstock, I adhered it to a piece of patterned paper from my stash.  The finished panel was adhered to a kraft card base.

Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge-Neon Nicknacks

It's time for a new Curtain Call Inspiration Challenge!

Here's my take on the inspiration photo.  That fabulous neon green pineapple caught my eye, so I created a collection of tropical blooms using Right at Home's Abstract Florals stamp set.  I stamped a bunch of different blooms using some of the awesome Radiant Neon inks from IMAGINE Crafts.  Once I settled on an arrangement I liked, I used a combination of regular adhesive and foam tape to put the blooms and leaves in place on a pierced rectangle panel.  I added some white sequins to the leaves as accents.  Their iridescent finish goes nicely with the neon tones.

There was enough room at the bottom of the panel to stamp the "hello friend" sentiment, mixed and matched from different stamps from the Script Greetings set.  The panel was matted on  yellow cardstock, then adhered to a bold berry card base.  I didn't have any real neon cardstock to use, so I had to improvise a bit here!

Color Throwdown 384-Floral Thank You

It's time for another Color Throwdown!  Barbara is our hostess this week and sharing a fun color combination--lavender, red, and green.  Isn't the purple bicycle in the photo fabulous?

I went floral for my card for the second week in a row.  This time, instead of using die cuts, I used stamped florals in a similar modern style. The stamps are from Right at Home's Abstract Floral set--so fun to mix and match.  I started with a solid lavender base, then added the scribble layer in red pigment ink and the center in green pigment ink.  The little dots were added with more red ink after the solid green image set.  I cut out the flowers and leaves with my scissors, then arranged them on a white panel over a lavender-ish cardstock strip.  The "thank you" sentiment from the Script Greetings set, also from Right at Home, was stamped on the panel's open space in lavender ink.  I matted the panel on red cardstock, then adhered it to a lavender card base on an angle.
