Whee!

The challenge for this month’s My Favorite Things guest designer contest was to create a project with some kind of stitching on it. I made a little framed scene featuring one of the Pure Innocence cuties as the focal image, stitching on both paper and fabric to put the project together.

I stamped the girl on a swing image from the Start the Day with Whee! set and colored her in with Copic markers. Once she was colored, I set her aside and started work on the scene.

I used a piece of light blue cardstock as the base. For the grass, I added a piece of green grid patterned paper at the bottom and zig zag stitched it in place with my sewing machine. I used my Big Shot, some felt, and the cloud and sun Die-Namics dies to cut pieces to fill the sky. Once they were arranged on the blue base, I stitched them in place, too. A little hint for you about this—I used tiny pieces of ScorTape to hold the felt in place so I could stitch and secure it. I free-hand cut both the tree top and the cork tree trunk. The trunk’s attached with ScorTape and the tree top is again stitched in place.

After the scene was assembled, I added the little girl to the picture. She’s attached with foam tape for some dimension. I stamped the set’s sentiment on a green panel and attached it to the bottom of the scene, accenting it with a button. This sweet little scene just might find a place on my desk at work . . .
