Trendy Tree Top Birthday

Here’s my card for the current CAS-ual Fridays challenge to create a card with flowers or trees. I put this simple card with a tree as the focal image together in no time at all.

I used the tree image from Papertrey Ink’s Trendy Tree Tops set along with the coordinating dies for the focal image. The tree trunk was die cut, then stamped with the matching image. The tree top was die cut, then backed with a scrap of blue cardstock to give the bird cutout a pop of color. I added a teeny, tiny pearl to the bird as an eye.

The tree is set on a piece of dot embossed cardstock with a strip of grass border punched gingham paper along the bottom. I used foam tape to attach the tree to the panel so I could add a few fluffy felt clouds behind it. I wrapped a length of olive baker’s twine around the bottom of the panel and secured it with a bow, then set it on the kraft card base. The set’s “happy birthday” sentiment is stamped beneath it in brown ink.

Materials Used:
Trendy Tree Tops stamp set, Aqua Mist, Simply Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores, and Kraft cardstock, Simply Chartreuse gingham patterned paper, Trendy Tree Tops and Clouds dies (Papertrey Ink); grass border punch (Martha Stewart); Polka Dot embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); olive baker’s twine (Timeless Twine); self-adhesive pearl (Recollections); white felt; foam tape
