World Card Making Day Challenge
Welcome to the 3:00 World Card Making Day challenge from Kitchen Sink Stamps. Your challenge is to use fall colors to create a card with a holiday theme. I'm thinking that fall colors might include warm shades of oranges, browns, and yellows. Since the original intent of World Card Making Day was to kick off the holiday card making season, your card should be for some kind of holiday, too. I think these colors would be perfect for a Thanksgiving card if you choose to give some for that occasion. I can't wait to see what you come up with!
To be entered to win a handmade prize (a fall-themed hand stamped tile tic tac toe board game and playing pieces) for completing this challenge, you need to post a link to your card over at the Kitchen Sink Stamps blog. All challenge participants will also be entered in a drawing to win two KSS sets-Ready 4 Any Holiday and the limited edition Year of Thanks. Since the theme for this month's KSS contest is "Getting Ready 4 the Holidays," any cards that use 100% Kitchen Sink Stamps will also be entered in the regular KSS monthly contest for another chance to win KSS stamps. All WCMD challenge entries are due by 12:00 noon EST on Sunday (tomorrow). You can find full directions and link your entries here.
Here's a recap of the schedule for today's KSS event:
11:00-Nicole
12:00-Tammy
1:00-Dee
2:00-Julie
3:00-Lori (me!)
4:00-Tracy
5:00-Maria
Here's my sample for my color challenge. I used the Autumn Squirrel stamp set for my card. I stamped the three step leaf image in More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, and Chocolate Chip inks, then added a pair of acorn images to create the image panel. I layered the panel on Close to Cocoa cardstock, then on a piece of Pumpkin Pie cardstock with one edge slightly longer so it could be folded over. I put two copper brads in the folded portion as an embellishment and to ensure that the flap would stay down, too.
I made a kraft card base and added a More Mustard striped panel, edged in Chocolate Chip cardstock, to the left side of the card. I cut a slit where the card is scored so that I could slip a piece of ribbon through and wrap it around the card.
The sentiment is from the Vintage Words set. I'm not a vintage image kind of stamper, but these sentiments really appeal to me. I love the font and the variety of words. I chose "thankful" so that the card can be used as a Thanksgiving card.
Materials Used:
Autumn Squirrel and Vintage Words stamp sets (Kitchen Sink Stamps); More Mustard, Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa, Creamy Caramel , and Chocolate Chip Classic inks, Pumpkin Pie, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Kraft, and Very Vanilla cardstock, More Mustard Patterns designer paper, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); copper brads (Making Memories); brown grosgrain ribbon (Morex)
