Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge #1
Today is the first of our bi-monthly Kitchen Sink Stamps design team challenges. Maria, the owner of KSS and the creative mind behind the innovative multi-layered images, provided us with the first challenge, which is to use silver or gold in your creation. I knew right away I’d use silver—I love silver!—for my challenge and combine it with the new Bells set.
I started by stamping the small round bell images on white cardstock using a combination of different colors and kinds of inks (1-SU! Going Gray, stamped off 1x, 2-Encore Silver, 3-Memento London Fog, 4-Brilliance-Graphite Black). Then, I masked the bells with sticky notes and stamped the ribbon pieces to surround them. Here, I used a trio of blue inks (1-SU! Bashful Blue, 2-SU! Brocade Blue, 3-Brilliance Pearlescent Sky Blue).
The stamped image is cut out with a long rectangle Nestabilities die, then layered on a scallop edged shimmery silver panel, also cut with a Nestabilities die. I added a few more silver accents on the card. The “jingle bells” sentiment is stamped in silver ink against the navy blue panel. I also used some sparkly silver ribbon along the bottom of the card. The ribbon is ruffled and has an elastic piece threaded through it.
Be sure to visit the other Kitchen Sink Crew members to see their silver and gold creations. You can find links to their blogs in the sidebar on the left. And, if you participate in the challenge, leave a link to your project so we can see it, too.
Materials Used:
3 Step Bells stamp set (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Going Gray, Bashful Blue, and Brocade Blue Classic inks, Brocade Blue, Night of Navy, Brushed Silver, and Whisper White cardstock, mat pack and paper piercing tool, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); silver ink (Encore); London Fog ink (Memento); Graphite Black and Pearlescent Sky Blue inks (Brilliance); long rectangle and scalloped long rectangle dies (Nestabilities); silver ribbon (Michaels)
