Kitchen Sink Monday: Picture It

For this week's Kitchen Sink Monday challenge, Nicole challenged us to use a photo in our project--but with one catch--no scrapbook pages! So, after thinking on it for a while, I decided to make a photo frame using a Sizzix die (I was actually with Nicole when I saw this idea back in November . . .).

I covered two 4 1/2" by 6" pieces of chipboard with a bold patterned paper from Cosmo Cricket's Cogsmo line. I used my SU! Top Note die to cut an opening in one of the paper covered chipboard pieces. I set the cut out piece aside to use later.

The photo was layered under the die cut piece so that it showed through the opening I'd cut. I added a piece of acetate between the photo and the chipboard to protect the photo. Then, I attached the second paper covered chipboard piece to the back of the photo, sandwiching the photo between the two pieces of chipboard.

Here's where the cut out piece comes in to play. I scored the piece across the top, creating a fold. Then I used Sticky Strip to attach the section above the scored fold line to the back of the frame. This makes a simple stand to hold up the frame.

I embellished the frame with some KSS stamps. I stamped Cosmo's name (who else would I feature in a photo--LOL!) using the 1/2 Pint Playful Alphabet Buddy stamp set. I chose a mix of bold colors for the letters to coordinate with the frame.
