Color Throwdown 178-Nutty for You

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! This week, Keva’s brought us a pretty color combination that’s a refreshing change from all the reds and pinks I’ve been using lately Summer Sun, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla. These colors had me thinking fall, so I went with that but kept it seasonal as well by making a love-themed card with the acorn image from the Paper Smooches Falling for You set.

My card's design is based on the current Sweet Sunday Sketch challenge. The acorn is colored with Copic markers and cut out, then attached to a vanilla panel with dimensional dots. For some texture, I ran a strip of brown faux suede ribbon beneath the image and added the set’s “nutty for you” sentiment at the end of the ribbon on a pair of layered circles.

I used a pair of patterned papers from a My Mind’s Eye paper pad for the two panels on the cardfront. Each panel is layered on a piece of Early Espresso—the deep, dark brown really makes the colors pop—then set on a Summer Sun panel. I layered the panel on an Early Espresso card base, adding a piece of plain white cardstock inside for writing a message.
