Color Throwdown 201-Happy Birthday
It’s time for another Color Throwdown! But before we get started, I wanted to thank everyone who joined us for last week's 200th Color Throwdown celebration. Marisa is the randomly selected winner of my blog candy prize--you can find a full listing of all of the blog candy winners on the CTD blog.
Now, on to this week’s colors. Wanda’s our hostess this week and she’s chosen these pretty colors for this week’s challenge—Riding Hood Red, So Saffron, More Mustard, and Gumball Green.
I used this week’s sketch from I Spy Sketches as the basis for my card. I leafed through my patterned paper scrap pile and found three papers that matched the challenge colors and had different patterns, too. I used my 1 ½” circle punch to make a bunch of circles and layered them on slightly larger coordinating solid cardstock circles, then began to play with arranging them on a white card base to get the appearance of a random arrangement. Once I’d come up with something I liked, I adhered the circles to the cardfront and trimmed off any excess that extended over the card’s edges.
For accents, I found a bunch of buttons that matched the challenge colors and, after threading them with some twine, adhered them to some of the circles. I stamped the “happy birthday” sentiment from the Paper Smooches Sentiment Sampler set on a notch-ended strip and layered it on a mustard panel, then adhered it to the card.
To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD201. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and July’s guestie, Judy Rozema:
