Happy Birthday, All Star

Here’s a quick birthday card for today’s SCS clean and simple challenge to use plaid. I used a plaid patterned paper panel as a background for this sports themed birthday card.

For the focal image, I stamped, colored, and cut out the hockey stick and puck from the Technique Tuesday Hockey stamp set. The stick and puck are attached to the plaid panel with dimensional dots.

The plaid panel is layered on a turquoise card base--the two colors coordinate much, much better IRL! I layered a strip of cream twill over both the plaid and the cardfront for the sentiment. Since the hockey themed set didn't include any birthday sentiments, I mixed and matched parts of sentiments from three different Paper Smooches stamp sets to get the "happy birthday all star" sentiment I wanted.   It’s stamped in black ink on the left side of the strip  and accented with a pair of silver brads to keep things simple and sporty.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Technique Tuesday Hockey stamp set, Paper Smooches Word Salad, Halloweenies, and My Guy stamp sets, X-Press white Copic blending cardstock, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Copic markers (E41, E42, E43, C-1, C-3, C-5), Simple Stories Harvest Lane 6x6 paper pad, May Arts ivory twill, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

Other: Turquoise Sea cardstock (Gina K Designs); Kraft cardstock (Papertrey Ink); silver brads (Michaels)
