One Layer Puppy Love

This week’s Lawnscaping challenge is to create a one layer card. With a little creative masking and a hand-drawn frame, this sweet dog themed design came together very quickly.

I stamped one of the dog images from Lawn Fawn’s Critters at the Dog Park stamp set on a white card base, then added the tennis ball image and sprinkled in a trio of solid heart images from the Bee Mine set. Once the images were in place, I used a fine tip pen and a ruler to make a frame around my little scene.

The dog and tennis ball images were colored with Spectum Noir markers.  When I finished coloring, I masked the dog and the tennis ball with sticky notes and framed the outlined edges with scrap paper to keep the inks inside, then used distress inks and a sponge ink applicator to fill in the background. For the sky, I used a cloud template to add some interest. I was going to add a sentiment, but in the end, I decided to keep the card as is so it can be personalized for the recipient—and I already have one in mind . . .

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Lawn Fawn Critters at the Dog Park and Bee Mine stamp sets, Crafter’s Companion ultrasmooth white cardstock, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black and Lady Bug inks, Spectrum Noir markers (GB2, GB3, GB7, TN3, TN5, CT1, CT2, IG5)

Other: Tumbled Glass, Shabby Shutters, and Peeled Paint distress inks (Ranger)
