You Rock My World
Here's my card for this week's Mojo Monday sketch challenge--I can't believe the challenge has reached sketch #400! I'm also throwing my hat in the ring to be a Mojo Monday designer. I've always found the Mojo sketches to be fun and inspiring and I'd love to be part of the team bringing inspiration to others.
I started off by creating a watercolor-ish background to go with my card's space theme. To get the background, I pressed a few distress ink pads on to my craft sheet, then spritzed them with water and dragged and pressed a piece of watercolor paper into the inky puddle until I was happy with the look.
After the panel dried I added a partial yellow circle in the lower left corner. The circle was debossed with a polka dotted pattern to get a moon-like look. I colored up a space ship from the Paper Smooches Space Cadet set using my Copic markers and cut the ship out with the matching Space Cadet Icons dies, then added it to the scene with foam tape. I combined pieces of two different sentiments from the Beboppin and Word Salad stamp sets to get my "you rock my world" sentiment. My new MISTI made the exact placement of the words very easy. A few silver sequin "stars" scattered around the panel finished the design.
Materials Used:
Space Cadet, Beboppin, and Word Salad stamp sets, Space Cadet Icons dies (Paper Smooches); Deep Lagoon and Memento Tuxedo Black inks, irRESISTible Pear Tart Pico Embellisher (IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko); Stormy Sky, Peacock Feathers, and Broken China distress inks (Ranger); Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Polka Dots embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); watercolor paper (Michaels); silver sequins; foam tape
