Flower Trio and Plenty of Purses, Too

I've had a lazy day at home today, watching sports on TV (my poor University of Wisconsin Badgers lost--and lost badly--in their bowl game today . . .) and even taking a nap. I also fit in some stamping time, working on some blogger sketch challenges.

I made this card using this week's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. I have tons of Prima flowers, so I put a few of them to use here on this bright card. Each flower is embellished with a button with a piece of white twine tied through it.

I matched the flowers to a piece of Sassafras Lass patterned paper. I used both sides of the patterned paper here, divided by the wide teal ribbon and the scalloped strip. To bring in just a bit of the yellow that's in the flowers and the paper, I put a very narrow strip of yellow cardstock under the scalloped strip to fill in the open holes with a pop of color. I stamped the "thank you"sentiment from Unity's Circle of Thanks in turquoise pigment ink to finish off the card. It's already in the mail to its recipient.

Materials Used:
Circle of Thanks stamp set (Unity Stamp Co.); Tempting Turquoise Craft ink, Taken with Teal, Green Galore, and Yoyo Yellow cardstock, glue dots (Stampin' Up!); Sassafras Lass Frosted designer paper (i {heart} papers); flowers (Prima); buttons, twine (Walmart); Threaded Water punch (Fiskars); teal satin ribbon (Kitchen Sink Stamps)

I made this card using Mary Jo's sketch challenge. I haven't done one of her sketches in a while, but when I saw this one, I knew I wanted to give it a try using the purses from the Tote-ally Fantastic set from My Favorite Things. I love the cute purse images in this set!

I stamped the purses on patterned paper scraps, then trimmed around them. I fit them on 1 3/8" Very Vanilla squares, then layered them on slightly larger Kiwi Kiss squares. I arranged them carefully so none of the squares overlapped and hid the purses.

I used Baja Breeze Patterns designer paper and solid Baja Breeze cardstock for the panel on the cardfront. A piece of moss grosgrain ribbon hides the seam where the patterned and solid papers meet. I lined up the purses over the ribbon. The sentiment is stamped in Close to Cocoa ink on the bottom of the panel. I put a green rhinestone on either side of the sentiment to draw attention to it.

Materials Used:
Tote-ally Fantastic stamp set (My Favorite Things); Close to Cocoa Classic ink, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, Kraft, and Very Vanilla cardstock, Baja Breeze Patterns designer paper, 1 3/8" square punch, glue dots (Stampin' Up!); moss grosgrain ribbon (Morex); Offbeat designer paper (Basic Grey); green self-adhesive rhinestones (Michaels); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento)
