First Cinema Saturday Creative Challenge Card

My Paper Craft Planet design team buddy Sankari (along with her friend Brooke) has a challenge blog called Cinema Saturday Creative Challenges. Each week, they post sneak peeks leading up to the big reveal of the featured movie on Saturday and participants have the opportunity to guess what the movie might be. Once the movie is revealed, players are invited to take inspiration from the movie to create a project.

This week’s movie pick was the classic The Wizard of Oz. I took my inspiration from how Dorothy and the other characters she met along the way (the Tin Man, Scarecrow, and Cowardly Lion) helped and supported each other on their journey. I used the knight image from the DoodleFactory Fairy Tale set from Starving Artistamps as the focal image for my card—and to meet the additional challenge requirement of having a metallic element in your project.

I stamped the knight on metallic silver paper in black ink and sprayed the image with some sealant (after smearing the first one I stamped . . .). The additional details are paper pieced with cardstock scraps. I used a scrap of yellow cardstock to fashion my own yellow brick road, hand drawing some bricks. I set the road and knight on a Baja Breeze cardfront with sponged-in clouds and torn paper grass.

The “thank you” sentiment comes from the matching Fairy Tale sentiment set. I added a punched out heart as an embellishment to complete the card.

Materials Used:
DoodleFactory Fairy Tale and Fairy Tale sentiment sets (Starving Artistamps); silver metallic paper (Target); Real Red Classic ink, Real Red, Yoyo Yellow, Baja Breeze, Kiwi Kiss, More Mustard, and Basic Black cardstock, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); heart punch, (EK Success); black pen; cloud template
