Blogger Challenge: Week 88
This week’s blogger challenge was to create an altered item. I have a fun gift item made with stamps from Clear & Simple Stamps for this challenge.
After Valentine’s Day, I found a prepackaged cupcake making kit on clearance, including dry batter, icing, cupcake liners, and toppings. I repackaged these ingredients in my kit—what a time saver—and added some festive birthday candles, too. I pulled out a tall, clear acrylic paint can that I got on clearance at Staples a while back (less than $1 each—I couldn’t resist picking up a few!)--and converted the container into a cupcake kit.
The bucket was decorated simply. I made a “belly band” for around the bucked using some festive designer paper from Basic Grey’s Cupcake line, edged with a pink scalloped strip. I tied ribbon around the belly band and used that to attach a gift tag.
The tag is stamped with the cupcake image from the Make a Wish stamp set and a combination of sentiments from the Make a Wish and Birthday Darling stamp sets.
I decorated the paint can lid with the same cupcake image. This time, I colored the image with Copic markers and added some sparkle with Stickles and a clear glitter pen.
For more altered item inspiration, you can visit the rest of the challenge players. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right.
Materials Used:
Make a Wish and Birthday Darling stamp sets (Clear & Simple Stamps); white cardstock (Xerox); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers and clear Spica pen (Copic); circle and scalloped circle dies (Nestabilities); Lipstick Red Glitz Stickles (Ranger); red Glaze pen (Sakura); patterned paper (Basic Grey-Cupcake line); Apron Lace border punch (Fiskars); Pretty in Pink and Real Red Classic inks, Pretty in Pink, Real Red, and Whisper White cardstock, silver eyelet, Pretty in Pink grosgrain ribbon, tag corner punch, mat pack and paper piercing tool, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); red brad (Joann); acrylic paint container (Staples)
