Blogger Challenge: Week 94

This week's challenge theme was techniques. Pretty wide open, isn't it? I stuck with a tried and true one--emboss resist. I was reminded of this one when I was visiting the Stamp TV site earlier this week, so I thought I'd try it out for my challenge card.

I ended up making two different cards for the challenge. This one uses images from the Elegant Flowers set from Gina K Designs. I love how floral silhouette images look with this technique! They're elegant to begin with, but this technique really shows them off.

Here, I stamped my images with Versamark on white cardstock, then embossed over them with clear embossing powder. I sponged blue and purple inks over the panel for a soft, soothing effect. The panel is machine stitched to the Almost Amethyst mat using a zig zag stitch. I added a photo corner with pearl accents to the upper left corner of the panel.

I used a pair of coordinating papers with subtle patterns on the cardfront, along with a matching satin ribbon. I had just enough room to fit the "know that I care" sentiment along the bottom of the card.

On this card, I used the same technique, but instead of a bold silhouette image, I used a detailed line image as the focal point on my card. The butterfly is from the Take Flight stamp set, also from Gina K Designs. I sponged several shades of yellow and orange inks over the embossed image, then wiped the excess ink away to reveal the image. This technique really highlights the intricate details of this image.

The sentiment is stamped in brown ink on a strip of Baja Breeze cardstock. I cut a notch in the right end to make it look like a banner, then attached it to the cardfront with a dimensional. I added a button, tied with an orange ribbon to the left side of the sentiment for some balance.
