Have Your Cake

With the new month comes a new theme for the Paper Craft Planet Design Team gallery. For January our theme is treats. Throughout the month, the Super Novas will be adding lots of fabulous treat themed cards and other projects for your enjoyment and inspiration.

Here's my first contribution to this month's gallery. It's for this week's sketch challenge, brought to us by Wendy. My card features a die cut cupcake treat as the focal image. The cupcake is cut with SU!'s Big Bold Cupcake Sizzlit die set. I added some extra details, like some sparkly Stickles on the candle flame, polka dot embossing on the cupcake top, and crimping the cupcake bottom--just like a real cupcake wrapper!

I paired the cupcake with some fun striped paper from October Afternoon's Ducks in a Row line. The sentiment is from Papertrey Ink's Piece of Cake stamp set. I stamped it in black to stand out against the bright, busy stripes behind it. A simple piece of knotted twill at the end of the striped panel finishes the card.

If you want to play along with this week's sketch, please upload your card to the PCP gallery with the keyword sk010210 so it can be added to the album with the rest of the creations using this week's sketch.
