You Go Girl

Here’s my card for this week’s Bellarific Friday challenge from Stamping Bella. This week’s challenge was to use a sports or winter sports related image in honor of the Olympics. It was the perfect opportunity for me to use my little used Hockeymomabella image! I think I’ve used her once before for a thank you note for some hockey tickets I received. If you’re a regular reader, you know I’m a big hockey fan, so I had to have the stamp, even though I knew that I most likely wouldn’t have lots of reasons to use it. I’m was so excited for this afternoon’s US hockey game. By the time I got home, the US already had a sizeable lead and was on the way to victory.

I colored Hockeymomabella in a red, white, and blue color scheme. I added a little sparkle and shine with some silver gel pen on the skate blades. I paired her with a navy mat and a blue card base.

A star border punched strip runs along the right edge of the card. I added some machine stitching to break up the red just a bit. The “you go girl” sentiment is stamped in red and layered on a navy mat. I attached a piece of knotted red stitched grosgrain ribbon to the end of the panel, then layered it on the card with some foam tape.

Materials Used:
Hockeymomabella image, sentiment (Stamping Bella); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Real Red Classic ink, Real Red, Night of Navy, and Brocade Blue cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); red stitched grosgrain ribbon (Creative Impressions); Classic Stars border punch (Martha Stewart); foam tape; sewing machine
