Unity Times Two

Over the long weekend, I pulled out some Unity stuff for a pair of challenges. Here’s my card for this week’s Unity Addicts challenge. The challenge was two parts—make an ATC and then, use the ATC on a card.

I went for a fall theme using images from Unity’s Harvest of Memories and Learning {year by year} August Stampin’ Store Kit. I stamped the “give thanks” sentiment first in the corner of a cream panel using brown ink, then went back and added the maple leaf image around it. The edges are dusted with brown ink for a soft, distressed look. To add some dimension and color, I stamped the leaf again, this time on a scrap of rust cardstock. The leaf is cut out and attached to the ATC with foam tape. Before I attached it, I sprayed it with some Copper Shimmer Spritz for a soft sparkle. This color is great for adding a touch of glitter to fall projects.

To keep the focus on the ATC, I kept the rest of the card simple. I used some earthy colored dotted paper from KaiserCraft's Up, Up and Away paper pad (just arrived at i {heart} papers!) to cover most of the cardfront, then added a strip of rust paper embellished with a gold faux suede ribbon and a pair of copper brads.

For this one, I went a little more whimsical. The card is based on this week’s Hip Hop sketch challenge and features the cute bee image from Unity’s Everyday Adorable.

The bee is set in a simple scene. Looking at it now, I probably should have stamped the image a little higher up on the panel. Oh, well . . . I used Copic markers to draw in some grass beneath the bee and used Palette's Ballet Blue ink to sponge in a sky with clouds. The bee’s wings are coated with Crystal Stickles for an iridescent look.

I used some of the new Cosmo Cricket Togetherness designer paper for the panel on the cardfront. A pair of ribbons—a scallop edged yellow velvet and a pale blue faux suede—run across the card, underneath the image panel. The “bee-lieve in yourself” sentiment is accented with a trio of clear crystals. I used foam tape to layer it on to the cardfront.
