Eat Cake

Here’s my card for this week’s TCP Tuesday challenge. The triangle pair on this week’s sketch was intimidating at first, but once I figured out the right sizes, it worked out okay--and relatively painlessly, too.

I used the colors from Jillibean Soup’s Dutch Mustard paper pad as the inspiration for my card. The bunny popping up from behind the yummy-looking cake image is colored with Copic markers to match the shades in the papers. I added some Stickles to the candle flames for a little sparkle. The “go forth and eat cake” sentiment fit nicely along the bottom of the panel. I matted the image on coordinating panels, then set it aside to assemble the rest of the cardfront.

I cut triangle shapes from two different designer paper patterns, first “auditioning” a triangle I made from a piece of scrap paper to get the size and shape just right before cutting in to the patterned paper. The triangles are attached to a dotted brown panel and machine stitched along the edges. I stretched a strip of green grosgrain ribbon down the right side of the card, adding a button-embellished bow at the bottom to dress it up. The image panel was attached in the remaining space. I layered the panel onto a yellow card base to wrap things up.
