Blogger Challenge: Week 202

***Scroll down to the post below for info about a great National Scrapbooking Day sale at i {heart} papers!***

This week’s blogger challenge is to create a nature themed project. I combined the theme with this week’s Our Craft Lounge’s challenge to use paper piecing.

The trees from the Tree-ific Trees set are just perfect for paper piecing! Here, I stamped the tree image in brown ink and used pieces of dotted papers from a My Mind’s Eye paper pad to fill in the treetop. The smaller circles are attached with dimensional dots for a layered look.

In keeping with the nature theme, I used earth tones for the rest of the card. I embossed a kraft panel with a dotted pattern and set that on the left side of the card. A piece of brown twill hangs over the top of the panel, dressed up with a button tied with matching green baker’s twine. An avocado green panel is slipped under the right side of the kraft panel. I machine stitched around the panel’s edges before attaching the image panel over it. I curved the set’s “wishing you . . .” sentiment on my clear block and stamped it just above the image panel, then stamped the rest of the sentiment alongside the tree image.
