Smooches

This week’s Color Throwdown challenge colors—Blushing Bride, Early Espresso, Kraft, and Baja Breeze—are among my favorites, so I had to give it a try. I just got the new Chubby Chums set from Paper Smooches and it was perfect for the challenge. My sister and I have a long-running cow card joke (I guess that’s what happens when you both go to college in Wisconsin), so I used the colors and the set’s chubby cow image for my card.

I wanted a polka dotted cow, so after stamping the cow image on kraft cardstock, I ran it through my Big Shot with a polka dot embossing folder, then cut out the embossed image. I stamped the image again on a piece of white cardstock and colored in the nose, then cut out the nose and eyes and attached them to the kraft cutout. The cow is set on a Baja breeze circle (with a little green grass—it is a cow, after all!) using foam tape.

The rest of the card uses a pink and brown color scheme. I used dotted paper from a Papertrey Ink paper pad for the large panel on the cardfront and a solid pink for the strip underneath the image panel. The solid pink panel is divided by a dark brown twill strip. I added a kraft panel beneath it and stamped the set’s “sMOOches” sentiment on the kraft. After putting all the pieces in place, I attached a pink button, tied with a little baker’s twine, at the bottom of the image panel. I'll have to set this one aside to send to my sister for a special occasion . . .
