For Katie

It’s with much sadness that I write this post. Early this morning with her family by her side, fellow stamper Katie Renz passed away peacefully in her sleep. The overwhelming support from the stamping community during the recent Swimming for Katie blog hop and fundraiser has been greatly appreciated by her family and loved ones. Information about the stamps and digi images offered for purchase as part of the hop as well as the link to the donation fund can be accessed here if you are interested in either purchasing or making a contribution to the family.

I made this simple design with Katie and her family in mind. It uses the sketch from this week's SCS clean and simple challenge along with images from Papertrey Ink. A leafy branch image from the Turning a New Leaf set is stamped in opposite corners of a pink panel and decorated with a flower. The center of each flower is dotted with a bit of Liquid Pearls for dimension. The "with heartfelt sympathy" sentiment is stamped in the center of the panel. After layering the panel on an avocado green mat, I set it on a pale green card base.

If you’d like to send the Renz family a card, it can be mailed to:

Thinking of Katie and her family and wishing them peace tonight . . .

Materials Used:
Turning a New Leaf, Everyday Classics, Beautiful Blooms II, and Through the Trees stamp sets, Simply Chartreuse and Sweet Blush ink, Sweet Blush, Ripe Avocado, and Spring Moss cardstock (Papertrey Ink); White Opal Liquid Pearls (Ranger)

  1. I was heart broken when I heard the news. I did not know Katie but once I read her story, I couldn't help but be in awe of her spirit and courage. I am sure her family will truly appreciate your beautiful card.

  2. I think we all feel like we have lost a friend today...whether we knew Katie in person or not - she touched every life she came into contact with. We will all miss her shining light.
