Butterfly Thanks

I made this super simple thank you card based on this week’s Waltzingmouse Sketch challenge. I was so excited (and surprised!) that my new WMS stamps arrived so quickly—unlike most US customers, for some reason most of my WMS orders have taken close to a month to arrive after they ship—that I couldn’t wait to ink them up!

I used the pretty butterfly from the new Nordic Spring set as my focal image. I colored the stamped image with Copic markers in shades of oranges and yellow-oranges (Copic Ys and Yrs), then cut it out. I set it on a coordinating patterned paper panel using foam tape. For a little sparkle, I attached a piece of clear crystal flourish behind the butterfly, forming a sort of flight trail.

There was just enough room to stamp the “thanks a bunch” sentiment at the bottom of the patterned paper panel. I used an orange ink instead of a black to coordinate with the butterfly and for a somewhat softer look. The patterned paper panel is set on an orange mat, then on a kraft card base.

Materials Used:
Nordic Spring and Compact Sentiments stamp sets (Waltzingmouse Stamps); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Vivid Butterscotch ink (Clearsnap); markers (Copic); Crumb Cake and Pumpkin Pie cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Fine & Dandy-True Blue 6x6 paper pad (My Mind’s Eye); crystal flourish (Recollections); foam tape
