TCPTuesday 201-Birthday Balloon

This week’s TCP Tuesday challenge is an inspiration challenge. Check out the inspiration board that Jen’s created—love the cool blues and greens, and the yummy looking cupcake, too!

I took my inspiration from the chevron pattern and from the bow tie to make this fun birthday card using Jen’s March Sketch for You to Try and one of the clown penguins from the Clownin’ Around set. I stamped the tie-wearing, balloon-toting penguin on a white panel, then colored the image with Copic markers. The balloon’s covered with Glossy Accents for a shiny look.

I found some green chevron patterned paper in my collection to use for the panel at the bottom of the card. The chevron paper and image panel are matted on pale green panels, then set on the light blue card base. I attached a dark blue cardstock strip along the left side of the card and layered a piece of lighter blue grosgrain ribbon over that for some texture. A green button, tied with matching baker’s twine, anchors the end of the ribbon strip. For the sentiment, I stamped “happy birthday” from the versatile A Beary Good Year set on a circular panel and layered that over the blue strip and the top edge of the image panel.
