Color Throwdown 199-Ahoy There

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! It’s my turn as hostess for challenge. Since Chloe the cutie puppy and I are currently hanging out at the beach and Sunday was Canada Day and today’s Independence Day in the US, it seemed appropriate to go with a somewhat patriotic color scheme, so today’s colors are inspired by this nautical party setup.

I used the Ahoy Matey stamp set for this pirate themed card using the colors.  The pirate image is colored with Copic markers, cut out, then set on a dot embossed turquoise panel with strips of torn kraft cardstock "sand" along the bottom.  Here's my hint for coloring the pirate's polkadotted bandanna head covering--it's hard to avoid the dots when coloring, so go ahead and color over them, then use a white gel pen to color them in.  Much easier that way!

The pirate panel is set on a piece of kraft paper with a navy chevron pattern.  I accented it with a strip of red grosgrain ribbon stretching from the top of the card and a wood button tied with a fun red, white, and turquoise baker's twine.  the set's "ahoy there" sentiment is stamped on the image panel in dark blue ink.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD199. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and July’s guestie, Judy Rozema:

** Barbara ** Broni  ** Joan **
** Kerri ** Lynn ** Wanda **

Next week will be the 200th Color Throwdown challenge. You won’t want to miss what the Color Throwdown team has planned to mark the occasion . . .
