Color Throwdown 202-Butterflies

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Tammy’s our hostess this week and she’s brought us this pretty color combination—Pool Party, Bermuda Bay, Rich Razzleberry, and Very Vanilla.  Those soothing shades of blue are right up my alley!

I used this week’s sketch from Retro Sketches as the basis for my card. The tag that’s the focal point of the card is made from a blue on blue dotted patterned paper scrap. I added a cream scalloped circle, cut with the CutUps Easy Rosettes die—I just left it flat instead of folding it into a rosette—then a pair of layered die cut butterflies cut with the CutUps Lacey Butterfly die. The bottom layer is Rich Razzleberry and the top is white vellum. The pieces are attached at the center (the butterfly’s body) so that I could bend the vellum layer back to add dimension. A few pearls at the center dress up the butterfly while hiding the adhesive I used on the layers. The “you still give me butterflies” sentiment from the Flutter By set from The Cat's Pajamas is stamped in purple ink on an aqua notch-ended strip and attached to the tag with the end tucked underneath the butterfly. Some cream seam binding, tied in a bow, fills in the hole at the top of the tag.

The tag is layered on a dot embossed aqua cardstock panel. To bring in a little more of the Rich Razzleberry color, I layered the panel on a razzleberry card base.

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD202. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and July’s guestie, Judy Rozema:
