Joy of the Season
Here's yet another off-season card I created to as part of my effort to keep thinking cool. I whipped up this one for July's Market Street Stamps Block Party, using the current Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge for the layout for my 4 1/4" square card.
The focal image is one of the sentiments from Market Street's Essential Holiday Elegance set. The set is perfectly named--the fonts are so elegant! Here, I stamped it in one of the new Memento blue inks, then surrounded it with a circle of bling as an accent. I have a bunch of die cut white felt doves left over from my holiday card design two years ago (yes, I'm still working my way through them!), so I used up another one on the left side of the circle panel.
Instead of using patterned paper on the cardfront, I made my own with Market Street's Houndstooth background stamp. I stamped it in Versamark on a white panel, then heat embossed it and rubbed it with some blue distress ink. I love blue and silver for holiday cards, so I used a piece of silver snowflake embossed paper (also left over from a previous holiday card design!) for the panel across the cardfront. Once it was in place, I layered the houndstooth panel on a silver mat, then set it on a blue card base. The cool color scheme is so refreshing in the middle of summer!
Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Market Street Stamps Essential Holiday Elegance and Houndstooth stamp sets, Memento Teal Zeal ink,
other: Marina Mist and Whisper White cardstock, clear embossing powder (Stampin' Up!); Versamark (Tsukineko); Broken China distress ink (Ranger); Snowflake embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); clear crystal circle (Recollections); dove die (Papertrey Ink); white felt
