You Bring Me Sunshine
Here’s my card for this week’s Waltzingmouse sketch challenge. I flipped the sketch on its side for this super summery design.
I was going for a masculine look, so I stamped one of the gingham stamps from the Gingham & Co. stamp set repeatedly in kraft colored ink on a kraft panel, then rubbed the inked panel with some distress inks for a more weathered look.
For the image panel, I used several distress inks on a white panel to make a sunny background for the large palm trees from the My Island set. Once I was happy with the panel, I attached a pair of kraft cardstock strips with torn edges at the bottom for a sandy look, then stamped the trees on top of the panel in brown ink. To bring in a little more color on the neutral background panel, I attached a yellow strip with some yellow dotted decorative tape along the length of the panel, then topped it with some orange twill before adding the image panel. I knotted a small length of additional orange twill and used a glue dot to secure it at the base of the image panel as a simple accent.
Materials Used:
Gingham & Co. and My Island stamp sets (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Memento Rich Cocoa and Toffee Crunch inks (Tsukineko); Dried Marigold, Wild Honey, Mustard Seed, Antique Linen, and Tea Dye distress inks (Ranger); Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Crumb Cake, and Whisper White cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); decorative tape (Target); orange twill (Michaels)
