I'm playing along with this month's Cloud9 challenge, featuring WPlus9 stamps. i {heart} papers is sponsoring this month's challenge, offering a gift certificate for one challenge player. You can find all the details on the Cloud9 blog.
This month's challenge was an inspiration one, based on the photo seen above. I chose to focus my card on a small element in the photo, the small floral-filled vases on the pretty table. The blue one at the front of the photo caught my eye, so I designed my card around that, using the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for the layout.
Instead of a vase, I used the small pocket image from the A Pocketful set to hold a pretty bouquet of flowers. The pocket's stamped in blue ink and cut out, then attached with dimensional dots to a panel stamped with the set's flower and stem images. It was easy to ink the flowers in two colors using dew drop shaped ink pads. Each flower's center is dotted with Petal Pink Liquid Pearls for dimension and shine.
I used a strip of pink dotted paper for the panel that runs the length of the card. To bring in a linen element like the tablecloth in the photo, I edged one side of the patterned paper with a pretty creamy colored lace. The other edge and the image panel are matted with razzleberry paper for a bold pop of color. Once the image panel was in place, I stamped the "birthday wishes" sentiment from the Happy Harvest set in a coordinating ink directly on the patterned paper panel to bring in a bit more of the deep purple color. It's not the most literal interpretation of the inspiration photo, but I think it works!
