Waltzingmouse October Blog Party
I’m joining in on this month’s Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Party. This month's party theme is a color challenge to use black, orange, and purple, which immediately brought Halloween to my mind. Even though I don’t have too many Halloween themed stamps from Waltzingmouse in my collection, I managed to put this somewhat spooky design together using the color inspiration provided for the blog party, along with the current sketch from Retro Sketches as my starting point.
I arranged an array of different sized plastic spider buttons on an orange on orange chevron patterned piece of designer paper. The spiders are “hanging” from a black web, punched out with a jumbo border punch and sprayed with a little shimmer spray for a dewy sparkle, then set on a purple strip for contrast.
Once I had the spiders and their web in place, I used my paper piercing tool to make a simple trail between each spider and the web above. Then I set to work on the most tedious part of this project—adding those teeny, tiny crystal eyes to each spider! The “Happy Halloween” sentiment from the Say it Loud Winter Holidays set is stamped beneath the spiders in black ink. I've got to admit, I like these spiders a lot more than the ones I usually come across . . .
Materials Used:
Say it Loud Winter Holidays stamp set (Waltzingmouse stamps); Versafine Onyx Black ink, Gold Shimmer Spritz (Tsukineko); Elegant Eggplant and Basic Black cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); A Walk in the Park-Flutter designer paper (Echo Park); spider web border punch (Martha Stewart); spider buttons (Blumenthal Lansing); clear crystals (Taylored Expressions)
