Papertrey Ink November Blog Hop

This month's Papertrey Ink blog hop challenge is to be inspired by a book cover.  The lion on the Wizard of Oz book cover jumped out at me, so I used it along with the text as the inspiration for my baby card.

Since I was making a baby card, I used the softer Spring Moss as a background instead of a black panel.  I die cut the lion from white cardstock, then stamped the coordinating images from the Sweet Baby set on the die cut pieces in colors matching the lion on the book cover.  The lion's head is attached with foam tape to add dimension to the image--and I used more foam tape to adhere the lion to the cardfront.

The "congrats on your new arrival" sentiment from the Congrats All Ways set is stamped in white ink and embossed in white embossing powder.  I stamped the image in 3 lines to incorporate the stacked text seen on the book cover.  The white stamping along didn't stand out enough from the green background, so I went ahead and embossed the words.  A strip of dotted decorative tape runs underneath the sentiment, bringing in another dotted element to match the lion's body.

Materials Used:
Sweet Baby and Congrats All Ways stamp sets, Fresh Snow, Orange Zest, and Harvest Gold inks, Spring Moss and White cardstock, Sweet Baby dies (Papertrey Ink); white embossing powder (Stampin' Up!); yellow dotted decorative tape (Target); foam tape

  2. Grin... how precious and love how you used some of the elements of the cover and not a literal take.

  4. a very sweet card. I took a literal approach to the challenge, I like that you used an element of it to inspire you, didn't even think of it that way
