You're Out of Sight

As a long time wearer of glasses, I couldn’t resist ordering the new eyeglasses themed stamp sets and coordinating dies from Taylored Expressions. I tried them out on this card for this week’s SCS sketch challenge.

I die cut the cat’s eyes shaped frames from turquoise cardstock, then backed the lenses with scraps of acetate for a glass-like look. I added a pair of tiny clear crystals to each side of the frame for a fun sparkle.  The frames are set on a cream panel using foam tape. The “you’re out of sight” sentiment from the Spectacular stamp set is stamped beneath the glasses in gray ink.

I paired the glasses with two different turquoise patterned papers—a houndstooth one for the two panels angled behind the image panel and a dotted one that covers most of the cardfront. A strip of silver shimmery cardstock runs the length of the card underneath the houndstooth and image panels. I added a silver glitter covered chipboard star as an accent at the spot where the three panels meet.   Definitely out of sight!

Materials Used:
Spectacular stamp set, Spectacles dies, clear Tiny Twinkles (Taylored Expressions); Memento Gray Flannel ink (Tsukineko); Very Vanilla and Tempting Turquoise cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Lush 2-Turquoise Houndstooth designer paper (My Mind’s Eye); shimmery silver paper, silver glitter chipboard star (Recollections); acetate; foam tape

  1. So cute, Lori! Love the fun houndstooth pattern and the adorable retro-turquoisey look... that's a word, right... turquiosey? :)
