Color Throwdown 227-Don't Go Breakin' My Heart

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Lynn is our hostess this week and she’s found this pretty color combination to work with—Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Old Olive, and Crumb Cake. I used the colors and this week’s sketch from Retro Sketches to create a sweet love themed design.

I used the bear from the Bear Hugs stamp set from The Cat’s Pajamas as my focal image. The bear is colored with Copic markers and cut out, then layered on a panel with rounded edges using foam tape for dimension. Now that I look at the card again, I wish I’d paper pieced the heart in the bear’s hand to add a little pattern to the image . . .

The strips behind the image panel are three different patterned washi tapes. I found ones with colors close to the challenge colors and with a variety of patterns to add interest. The “don’t go breakin’ my heart” sentiment is stamped next to the image panel in a rosy ink. I added a baker’s twine tied green button at the bottom of the card as an accent.
