Paper Smooches SPARKS-January Trend Watch Challenge
This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Trend Watch challenge. Take a look at this vintage themed photo. I remember having a rotary phone when I was growing up—and being super excited when we finally got one with push buttons!
Here’s my card for the challenge. Instead of using the vintage phone image from the Perpetual Bliss set, which was my first thought, I used one of the vintage TV’s from the Boob Tubes set. I don’t have any TV’s quite this vintage in my house, but I will admit to having several of the older, big and bulky models—it seems silly to replace something that’s working fine even if a more modern, sleeker design would look better. Here, I stamped the TV on kraft cardstock, then cut it out. I rubbed it with distress inks for a richer look, then cut out the circle/picture tube. I filled in the opening with a piece of silver cardstock topped with acetate for a glass like look. The buttons are filled in with Silver Pearl Liquid Pearls. Usually I use Liquid Pearls as a dot on just a small space, but it seemed to work okay here.
The TV is layered over a piece of text print paper, also rubbed with distress inks for a more aged look. I added a strip of chevron patterned washi tape to the panel along with a button in a nod to the bit of red in the photo and the round phone dial. The set’s “you turn me on” sentiment is stamped in black ink directly underneath the tape and TV.
Here are the other team members posting today. Be sure to check out what they've created for the challenge:
