Color Throwdown 228-CSS Release in Review Day 2

It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Tammy is our hostess this week and she’s found this pretty color combination to work with—Riding Hood Red, Pink Pirouette, Vanilla, and Basic Gray. I used the colors and the Mini Label Tags dies to make a piece of framed art and a coordinating card for today’s Clear and Simple Stamps Collection 6 Release in Review.

The card is a square that’s mostly filled with a large red die cut heart. To break up the cream background panel a bit, I adhered a strip of gray washi tape across the cream panel before putting the heart in place. The “I love you” sentiment from the Love Cupid stamp set is stamped in red ink on a Mini Label Tags die cut piece that I anchored with a bit of knotted gray satin ribbon.

The frame is inspired by the specimen style art I’ve seen in lots of places. For my minimalist version, I die cut several Mini Label Tags dies from pink cardstock.  I added die cut letters "i" and "u" to two of them. The tags are placed on a cream panel using foam tape. A 3-d heart, made from a pair of layered die cut hearts and machine stitched to another tag die cut, sits between the two tags. I placed the panel inside a wooden frame I painted with red acrylic paint. Unfortunately, I had a hard time getting the frame to stand up nicely for the photo because Chloe the cutie puppy mistook the little wooden peg that helps it stand for a stick and chewed it up . . .

To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD228. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and our February guestie, Kim Hahn.
