It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Broni is our hostess this week and she’s found this fun color combination for us to work with—Melon Mambo, Lucky Limeade, So Saffron, and Crumb Cake. I used the colors along with this week’s Clean and Simple Stamping sketch to make this fun birthday card.
Instead of using a stamped image, I used a die cut as the card’s focal point. I die cut the layered party hat using a die from Lil’ Inker Designs. The layered hat is adhered to a yellow patterned paper panel with dimensional dots. I stamped the “happy birthday” sentiment from a Paper Smooches stamp set next to the hat in a bright pink ink.
After matting the patterned paper panel on a piece of kraft cardstock, I adhered it to a green panel. I used a long line of attached bling, plus a few extra pieces of bling, to get the nice, (somewhat) straight line of sparkle underneath the image panel. Usually, those lines annoy me since I don’t usually use so many crystals on one project and I end up cutting them apart to use, but in this case, I was glad to have them on hand!
To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD231. Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and our February guestie, Kim Hahn.
Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Birthday Buddies stamp set, Tsukineko Memento Rose Bud ink, My Mind’s Eye Quilting Bee 6x6 paper pad, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots
other: Kiwi Kiss and Melon Mambo cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); party hat die (Lil’ Inker Designs); clear crystals (Michaels)
Very sweet card. That little party hat is so cute. Great colors this week at CTD, might have to play along! Your bling line looks just fine to me, and helps to set off your focal point. Nice! Bev
ReplyDeleteI like your, what I would call, a clean and simple card!! I don't suppose putting that row of bling was too easy though. You did a great job with it, and it adds a lot of fun to your card.
