Paper Smooches SPARKS February Designer Draft Challenge

This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Designer Draft challenge. I have to admit that this one had me stumped at first, but once I came up with an idea, my card came together pretty quickly—and turned out super sweet, too!

I used the small stitched heart image from the Needle Little Love set to make quilt style blocks. The hearts are colored with Spectrum Noir markers and cut out, then adhered to the center of a multicolored chevron patterned paper. The patterned squares are attached to red squares cut with a pinking edged die. I arranged the squares on a yellow card base, picking up one of the colors in the patterned paper. I added a notch-ended strip extending out from the top square, again using a color similar to one found in the patterned paper.

The sentiment is stamped in a straight line (instead of stacked as it is on the stamp) on a narrow white strip. With clear stamps, it’s so easy to place the words just where you want them! Once I set the stamped strip in place, I added the colored heart image on top. Each heart is accented with a tiny red button, threaded with white hemp cord.

Be sure to check out the challenge blog for all the details on this week’s challenge—and for inspiration from the design team, too!
