Time to Celebrate
Here’s another birthday card for my stash. It’s based on this week’s sketch at Seize the Birthday. I went with one of my favorite classic color schemes—pink and brown—and a sweet image from My Favorite Things.
The cake-toting a la modes image is colored with Copic markers and cut out. I used foam tape to adhere the image to the label die cut panel. The set’s “time to celebrate” sentiment is stamped along the panel’s edge—thanks to my stamp positioner for helping me to get it stamped pretty straight!
The image panel is set on a piece of pink paper with a scribble pattern across it. The paper’s from an older 12x12 collection kit. I’ve been trying to make a dent in some of my older stuff so I can replace it with new . . . The pattern’s broken up a bit with a strip of brown cardstock extending from the left edge of the panel right up to and underneath the image. To add some texture, I topped the strip with a piece of rose grosgrain ribbon. The final touch was teeny, tiny dots of pink Liquid Pearls along the top of each layer of the cake. I'm thrilled that I managed to get the card photographed before any of the dots were smudged--that's usually not the case!
Materials Used:
a la modes Time to Celebrate stamp set (My Favorite Things); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Chocolate Chip cardstock, Regal Rose grosgrain ribbon (Stampin’ Up!); Country Drive-Flutter By designer paper (Echo Park); Labels 1 dies (Spellbinders); Pink Petal Liquid Pearls (Ranger); foam tape
