From the Heart

I’m combining this week’s sketch from Retro Sketches (based on one of my cards, seen here!) with another Sneaky Peek of an upcoming release from The Cat’s Pajamas. The new Words of Love set is perfect for creating a subway art style panel, so that’s what I did here for the card’s circular element.

I stamped two of the phrases and one of the set’s decorative images in white pigment ink on a dark gray panel, then covered the images with white embossing powder and heat embossed them. I rubbed the embossed panel with some pigment ink for a dusty look, then adhered it to the light blue card base over the edge of a striped patterned paper panel.

Instead of using a pair of layered tabs at the top of the patterned paper panel, I used TCP’s new CutUps Heart Swirl die. I die cut the flourish twice, once from gray cardstock and a second time from a shiny silver paper, then stacked the flourishes so they were slightly offset before adhering them along the top left side of the patterned paper. For one last bold pop of color, I die cut a red felt heart using TCP’s CutUps Heart Trio die. I adhered the heart along with one gray button, tied with linen thread, at the bottom of the sentiment panel.

Check out the Retro Sketches blog for all of the challenge details and for more inspiration from the talented RS design team. And, don’t forget to stop by the TCP forum on SCS for more peeks at the new sets and dies to chat with The Cat Pack and other TCP fans on our “In it to Win it” thread. One lucky commenter will be chosen each day to win one of the new releases. If you want to see more sneaky peeks, here are the other Cat Pack members sharing projects today:
