Paper Smooches SPARKS March Designer Draft Challenge
This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a designer draft challenge based on the sketch in this graphic. I used the sketch in its vertical orientation to come up with this space-themed design.
I used the astronaut image from the Space Cadet set as the focal image on a simple scene. The astronaut is colored with Spectrum Noir markers and set atop a crater filled moon, courtesy of some debossing with a polka dotted embossing folder. The moon is adhered to the bottom of a star patterned paper panel. I matted the scene on a coordinating piece of cardstock, then adhered it to a bright teal card base.
The “you’re my universe” sentiment is stamped alongside the panel in black ink. Instead of using an overlapping square panel at the top of the card, I used an open centered star die cut. The star’s cut from silver glitter paper for a fun sparkly detail and adhered to the card with dimensional dots for even more pop.
Be sure to check out the challenge blog for all the details on this week’s challenge and some amazing inspiration from the design team, too.
Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Paper Smooches Space Cadet stamp set, X-Press white cardstock, Tsukineko Memento Tuxedo Black ink, Spectrum Noir markers (FS2, FS3, FS4, BT1, BT2, CR8, IG1, IG2, IG3, IG6), My Mind’s Eye Boy Crazy 6x6 paper pad, Lifestyle Crafts Polka Dots embossing folder, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots
other: Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, and Sahara Sand cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); silver glitter paper (Michaels); circle die (Spellbinders); CutUps Stars die (The Cat’s Pajamas)
