Paper Smooches SPARKS April Designer Draft Challenge

This week's Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a designer draft challenge based on the sketch seen in the photo above.  I went with the vertical orientation of the sketch and tried out some new Paper Smooches stamps and dies.

I used the new Wicked Nauticool stamp set and coordinating Nauticool die set for my card.  I die cut the sailboat shape from white cardstock, stamped the matching image on the die cut piece, and colored the image with Spectrum Noir markers.  The colored image is set on round panel with a debossed dotted light blue section for the sky and a darker blue section, stamped with the set's wave image, as the water.  The fluffy white felt clouds at either side of the boat add a little more texture to the design.

I used a pretty busy piece of chevron patterned paper to cover the top portion of the cardfront.  Once I added the red strip in the center and the image panel over that, it really toned down the pattern.  I used a piece of soft blue cardstock for the panel at the bottom of the card, both as a contrast to the busy pattern and so that it would be easy to see the stamped "waving hello" sentiment.
