Up, Up, and Away

Here's a clean and simple design for this week's Seize the Birthday sketch.  For my masculine take on the challenge, I used an image from a Papertrey Ink set designed for Valentine's Day.  By pairing it with a sentiment from another set, it was perfect for a birthday card design!

I die cut the plane image from white cardstock, then stamped the matching image from the Tremendous Treats:  Valentine set on the die cut piece and colored it with Copic markers.  I used foam tape to adhere it to a light blue dotted panel.  The panel had too much empty space on the right side, so to balance it out, I used my sewing machine to stitch a curvy flight trail extending out from behind the plane.  It's hard to see in the photo, but the detail looks great IRL.

After matting the panel on red cardstock, I attached it to a light blue card base to match the dotted blue panel.  The "up, up, and away--it's  your birthday!" sentiment from the Little Hot Rod set was stamped in red ink beneath the panel to finish the card.

Materials Used:
Tremendous Treats:  Valentine and Little Hot Rod stamp sets, Spring Rain patterned paper, Tremendous Treats:  Valentine dies (Papertrey Ink); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black and Lady Bug inks (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Bashful Blue and Real Red cardstock (Stampin' Up!); sewing machine; foam tape
