Ahoy Matey

When I saw Claire's challenge to make an interactive card, I knew right away what I wanted to do.  The Waltzingmouse Stamps Half-Pint Heroes set is perfect for creating cards with moving parts.  I've done interactive cards with the set's car and rocket images, but I think this is the first I've done with the submarine image.

I colored the sub with Copic markers and cut it out.  The large porthole is covered with a clear dome sticker for dimension and a glassy look.  The image is adhered to a penny slider mechanism, then set inside a track that I cut in a piece of white cardstock covered with several different blended distress inks.  I stamped the set's fish image a few times on a scrap of cardstock and colored them with Copic markers, then cut out the images and adhered them to the panel to add some contrasting color.  It's hard to see in the photo, but the panel is covered with a piece of acetate to give it a glossy, liquid-like look.

The sand at the bottom is made from a pair of torn edged kraft cardstock strips, inked with some white pigment ink and a brown distress ink.  I wrapped the kraft strips with some baker's twine and secured the twine with a bow before adhering the panel to a blue mat, then to the kraft card base.  The kraft strips and the layered sentiment panel at the top of the card were strategically placed to hide the adhesive I used to hold the acetate panel in place--always one of the trickiest parts when using acetate in a design!

Materials Used:
Half-Pint Heroes stamp set (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Fresh Snow ink (Papertrey Ink); Tumbled Glass, Salted Ocean, Peacock Feathers, Antique Linen distress inks (Ranger); markers (Copic); Pumpkin Pie and Tempting Turquoise cardstock, word window punch (Stampin' Up!); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); kraft baker's twine (Timeless Twine); Fishtail Flag Layers Stax and Fishtail Flag Stax dies (My Favorite Things); clear dome sticker (EK Success); acetate; foam tape
