To the Moon and Back

Here’s my card for this week’s sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. I used my Half Pint Heroes set from Waltzingmouse Stamps to make this space themed design.

When I first looked at the sketch, I immediately visualized the wavy line as some kind of landscape. I finally settled on making it the moon. My moon is created from a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock, debossed with a dotted pattern and covered with some shimmer spray for a galactic look. The sentiment is stamped at the bottom of the panel in navy ink. It’s a little blurry—I probably should have stamped it before the debossing and adding the shimmer spray . . .

I set the moon panel over a navy card base with a light blue dotted patterned paper that represents the starry sky. I stamped the set’s rocket ship image on white cardstock and colored it with Copic marker. The ship’s porthole is covered with a clear dome sticker to get a window-like look. After cutting out the colored image, I used foam tape to set it in place on the cardfront.

Materials Used:
Half-Pint Heroes stamp set (Waltzingmouse Stamps); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Memento Tuxedo Black and Nautical Blue inks, Frost Shimmer Spritz (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Night of Navy, Bashful Blue, and Crushed Curry cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Small Dots-Light Blue designer paper (Frances Meyer); Polka Dots embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts); clear dome sticker (EK Success); sewing machine; foam tape
