It’s time for another Color Throwdown! It’s my turn to host this week and with school starting around here this week, I found this fun backpack to use for our color inspiration.
My card is based on this week’s sketch from Retro Sketches. I used two different patterned papers—one yellow and one pink/rose—to create alternating stripes on a piece of pink cardstock. After edging the pink panel with orange cardstock strips, I adhered it to a white card base.
To embellish the panel, I die cut a large flower and a pair of leaves using the Build-a-Flower dies from Clear and Simple Stamps. I stamped the matching flower image on the die cut piece in pink ink, then adhered it to the cardfront using foam tape. I tucked the leaves underneath the flower, then added a die cut orange button, threaded with white twine, at the flower’s center. I love the little perforated detailing on the leaves! Instead of using a decorative label shape, I substituted a wide fishtail flag strip cut from orange cardstock. It’s stamped with one of the cheerful sentiments from the Build-a-Flower set.
To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD257.
Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and our August guestie, Kendra Wietstock. Thanks again to Kendra for joining us this month!
