Miss You

This week’s Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge is a Picture Perfect challenge. I was inspired by the leaves in the photo and created this card incorporating die cut leaves into my design.

I started off by adhering a green striped patterned paper panel, representing grass, to the bottom of a cream panel. I stamped the tree image from the Fanciful Fall set in Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa ink, then added a bunch of leaves die cut with the Leaves 1 die scattered underneath the tree. I was able to use up a bunch of cardstock scraps for the leaves, which is always nice. To add dimension, I popped up a few of the leaves with dimensional dots. The “miss you” sentiment from the Sentiment Sampler set is stamped next to the tree in Memento Luxe Toffee Crunch ink.

To mimic the water droplet look on the leaves in the photo, I used some gold shimmer spray. I admit, I was a bit nervous about this part and took a picture of the card pre-shimmering just in case I didn’t like the splattered look. To get my random splatters, I flicked the bottom (non-spray) end of the spray mechanism from a bottle of gold shimmer spray over the cream panel. Once it was dry and I decided I was okay with the splattered look, I adhered the panel to an olive card base to finish the card.
