You Are the Icing on my Cupcake

Here’s my card for this week’s Muse challenge. I was inspired by the layout and the shape of the image on the inspiration piece.

Since the look of the flower pot reminded me of the shape of a cupcake, I used a cupcake stamp from Avery Elle’s Cupcakes set for my take on the card. I stamped the cupcake liner outline and the cupcake top and icing in Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa ink, then added the liner in Summer Sky ink (I need this one in Luxe, too!). The icing is filled in with Spectrum Noir markers. I used markers to shade around the bottom of the cupcake, too.

And, I couldn’t leave out a flower element, so I stamped one of the set’s flower images on a scrap of white cardstock and colored it pink. After cutting it out, I used a dimensional dot to attach it to the cupcake image. The “you are the icing on my cupcake” sentiment is stamped beneath the image in the same brown ink. I matted the image on a piece of golden yellow cardstock, then adhered it to a light blue card base over half of a paper doily.

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers: Avery Elle Cupcakes stamp set, Crafter’s Companion ultrasmooth white cardstock, Tsukineko Memento Luxe Rich Cocoa and Memento Summer Sky inks, Spectrum Noir markers (GB1, GB2, GB3, PP1, PP3, PP4, PP5, BG1, BG2), Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other: Sea Glass cardstock (Avery Elle); So Saffron cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); self-adhesive pearl (Queen and Co.); white paper doily
