Be Merry and Bright

Here’s a clean and simple design for the current challenge at Waltzingmouse Fanatics. The challenge was to make a holiday card without using traditional holiday images (Santa, ornaments, snowflakes, and the like). I used the quilt-style squares from the Waltzingmouse Stamps Country Charms set to meet the challenge.

Be Merry and Bright-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps from Waltzingmouse Stamps
I stamped two different quilt blocks in pigment inks on a kraft card base. The pigment inks really show up nicely against the kraft background. Once the images were stamped, I adhered narrow strips of coordinating cardstock above and below the stamped images to set them off from the rest of the cardfront. I stamped the “be merry and bright” sentiment from the Seasons of Love-Tags set in black pigment ink over the stamped images. The sentiment is accented with a button tied with a little twine. I don’t want to tell you how long it took me to rig up the backwards loopy bow you see on the button . . .

Materials Used:
Country Charms and Seasons of Love-Tags  stamp sets (Waltzingmouse Stamps); Memento Luxe Love Letter and Pistachio and Versafine Onyx Black inks (Tsukineko); Certainly Celery and Real Red cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); red button (My Favorite Things); twine (Lawn Fawn)
