Color Throwdown 279- Purr-fect Friend
It’s time for another Color Throwdown! It’s my turn as hostess this week and I’ve picked a sweet color combination inspired by an adorable kitten themed hat and mitten set—Basic Gray, Melon Mambo, Pink Pirouette, and Real Red.
I was definitely inspired by the cute winter wear in the photo! The layout on my card comes from Laura's February Poppy Sketch. I was a big fan of Laura's previous sketch blog, 2 Sketches 4 You, and I was so excited to see her drawing up sketches again!
I paper pieced the cat image from the Clear and Simple Stamps Taglines: Critters set on a scrap of light pink paper. It looks a lot like the cat in the photo, doesn't it? The cat’s heart shaped nose is colored in with a bright pink Copic marker. After cutting out the image, I used foam tape to attach it to a gray on gray striped panel with a bright pink Favor Flag strip across it. The set’s “for a purr-fect friend” sentiment is stamped on the Favor Flag strip in black ink. I felt like the gray panel looked a bit empty, so I stamped one of the speech bubbles from the same Taglines: Critters set on it in gray ink, then used a red Copic marker to fill in the heart inside the bubble. I rounded the corners of the gray panel, then matted it on gray cardstock and adhered it to a red panel on top of a white card base.
To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD279.
Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team, our February guestie, Nicole Nastali, and our Guest Star Stamper, Deanna Jean.
