Lucky Stars
Here’s my card for this week’s sketch at CAS(e) this Sketch. With its long diagonal panel, this one challenged my spatial abilities somewhat, but I'm happy with the final product.
For the long diagonal panel that runs across the center of the card, I die cut a white cardstock strip full of star shaped openings using the Starry Sky die from Lil’ Inker Designs. To fill in the openings, I used a bunch of different distress inks to add color to a strip of white cardstock, applying the colors in rainbow order. Once it was finished, I adhered the colored strip behind the die cut panel.
When I cut the diagonal panel, I had a pair of triangle shaped pieces left. I arranged those pieces in opposite corners of a black cardstock panel, then adhered the star panel in the center. This left a nice, contrasting black border along the edges of the star panel. I stamped the “I thank my lucky stars for you” sentiment from Lawn Fawn's Lucky Stars set along the edge of the die cut section in black pigment ink to finish the design.
Materials Used:
Lucky Stars stamp set (Lawn Fawn); Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Barn Door, Dried Marigold, Scattered Straw, Shabby Shutters, Shaded Lilac, and Tumbled Glass distress inks (Ranger); Basic Black cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); white cardstock (Michaels); Starry Sky die (Lil’ Inker Designs)
